Marylanders can now access Delfina Care’s award-winning maternal health platform
Baltimore, MD, September 9, 2025 - Delfina Care, a leader in digital maternal health solutions and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD), a major not-for-profit managed care organization, today announced a new collaboration aimed at expanding access to personalized, technology-enabled maternity care for Medicaid members across Maryland.
Through this collaboration, eligible plan members and their clinical providers will gain access to Delfina’s comprehensive maternal health platform. The platform combines remote monitoring, AI-powered risk detection, and culturally competent care coordination to support expectant and new mothers throughout their pregnancy journey. Members will also have access to virtual support, inclusive of doulas that allows members to have access to care no matter where they are, physically and during their pregnancy. By addressing critical gaps in care, the program seeks to improve outcomes for both mothers and their babies.
“At CareFirst CHPMD, we are driving to create impactful change in maternal health. Our directive and direction is clear—we must not only be person-centered in our approach, understanding what our members need to thrive, but also work hand-in-hand with providers and innovative partners to deliver a better outcome for mother and child,” said Sheila Yahyazadeh, Chief External Operations Officer of CareFirst CHPMD.
“This collaboration with CareFirst CHPMD reflects our shared commitment to advancing health equity and improving access to maternal care,” said Senan Ebrahim, MD, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder of Delfina Care.
Through the partnership, plan members will benefit from simplified enrollment, personalized care plans and real-time support from Delfina’s multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals including doulas. Services will also be available in multiple languages, helping to reduce barriers to care and increase accessibility for members in underserved communities.
This collaboration is part of this plan’s ongoing efforts to address social drivers of health and reduce disparities in maternal care. By leveraging Delfina’s technology and expertise, the plan aims to deliver measurable improvements in maternal and infant health outcomes across Maryland.
